Mary qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in 1997 and began her career with junior rotations in Aberdeen and Ayrshire. This included gaining experience as a physio in ITU, amputee rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, general neurological rehabilitation and geriatric rehabilitation. She then moved to Wiltshire, where she worked in a specialist stroke rehabilitation unit — an experience that deepened her interest in neurorehabilitation and person-centred recovery.

Mary returned home to Orkney in 2013, and has worked as part of the NHS team at The Balfour before choosing to establish her own private practice in 2021. Reach Rehab Physiotherapy was born from a desire to offer flexible, ethical, affordable and evidence-based care within the community — meeting people in their own environments and supporting them to achieve their goals.

Mary is passionate about helping individuals reach their potential, whether they’re living with a neurological condition or navigating the challenges of ageing. She has a particular interest in mobility, balance, and functional independence, and enjoys integrating technology and the latest research into her practice to ensure care is both effective and empowering.
